The Little Mermaid - Drama at RJJT

  The Little Mermaid
Hello, everyone! This is my second blog, and it’s about a drama I performed in last year (June, 2013). It was a drama based on the story of The Little Mermaid. There were about 100 people in the drama. I played the role of a sailor on Prince Eric’s ship, one of the chefs in Prince Eric’s palace kitchen, and one of Scuttle the seagull’s friends.
The drama had many musical numbers, and I was in four of them. The very first song was starring Prince Eric and his seven sailors aboard his ship during the rough storm. The second one was starring Ariel, Scuttle, and the rest of the seagulls. We seagulls did a dance that answered Ariel’s questions about human objects. In the third dance, us chefs in the palace kitchen did a dance explaining about the delicious seafood meals we cooked for the royal family. The last dance was a dance in which all the performers in the show did a dance together to the song of “Under the Sea.” My favorite song in the show was “Part of that World” sung by Ariel.

Throughout the making of this show, we had a lot of fun on, and offstage. We would have different theme days, where we would dress up like we were from the 90’s, all in blue, in our costumes and so much more. We would also have this one day where everyone would walk to the park nearby and have a picnic. Over there, we would hold a huge contest where everyone would be split up in teams and compete in things like potato sack jumping, jump roping, piggyback riding, climbing, and more. It was all really fun.

I made many new friends at this drama camp. During rehearsals my friends and I would sometimes go over the top and do each other’s make up really crazily. Like once there was a lipstick line on my friend’s cheek and an eyeliner line extending from the corner of her eyes. Not to mention the lipstick on her teeth!

All in all, the show was executed beautifully, and the audience was heartily clapping after it was over. This show was a really great way to spend the summer for me. I would definitely love to do something like this again.
